I started Amethyst Counseling in 2022. For the previous eight years, I worked at Crescent Care, where I gained excellent experience providing mental health care in New Orleans.

My experience in community-based case management, primary care behavioral health, and individual mental health therapy prepared me to consider my clients holistically while supporting their emotional well-being.

I have training in a variety of evidence-based mental health interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I collaborate with each client individually to see which approach is best for their goals. I work with everyone to create a treatment plan based on their goals and my knowledge of therapy best practices. I believe that client-centered goal setting provides structure to therapy and allows clients to see the progress they are making. l work with my clients to decide the amount of structure and outside resources they prefer to incorporate in therapy. I check in often and encourage client feedback.

What sets me apart as a clinician is my flexibility, open-mindedness, and willingness to practice coping skills with clients in session. Although I bring education in therapeutic modalities to the table, I know my clients bring in the wisdom of their life experience, culture, and viewpoints.

I feel especially prepared and passionate about helping clients that are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, single-incident or developmental trauma, and relationship or interpersonal challenges.
